Darbhanga Ghatदरभंगा घाट
The most theatrical facade on the riverfront: a cliff of pale Chunar sandstone with tall Greek-style columns, domed chhatris and stacked balconies. The palace was built in 1812 by Shridhara Narayana Munshi, a minister of the Nagpur estate, and bought in 1915 by Maharaja Rameshwar Singh of Darbhanga, whose name the ghat took. After an eighteen-year restoration it reopened as the Brijrama Palace heritage hotel.

Tips
- Five minutes' walk south of Dashashwamedh past Munshi and Rana Mahal ghats; every Assi–Manikarnika boat passes it.
- The Darbhanga rajas were patrons of Dhrupad; the Dhrupad Mela is still held each spring at Tulsi Ghat.
How to reach
- 3.2 km from Varanasi Junction (Cantt) station in a straight line
- 22.3 km from Lal Bahadur Shastri Airport in a straight line
- 0.5 km from Godowlia crossing, where cars stop for the old city in a straight line
Straight-line distances; by road through the lanes it is further.
