Chunar Fort (day trip)चुनार किला

A sandstone fortress on a bend of the Ganga 23 km south-west of the city, held in turn by Sher Shah Suri (1532), Humayun, Akbar and the East India Company. The Sonwa Mandap pavilion, the deep well and the ramparts above the river are the reasons to go.
