The birth anniversary of the saint Ravidas brings one of the largest gatherings in the city to his birthplace temple at Seer Govardhanpur. Special trains arrive from Punjab, the temple is lit gold, kirtan runs day and night, and langar feeds everyone who comes.

Reaching Varanasi
Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport (Babatpur) is 25 km north-west of the city, with direct flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Hyderabad; a prepaid taxi to the ghats takes about an hour.
Varanasi Junction (Cantt) is the main station; Banaras (Manduadih) and Kashi stations also serve the city. The Vande Bharat from Delhi takes about 8 hours; Cantt to Godowlia is 20–30 minutes by auto.
